violin, guitar, and vocal

Marianne’s music is inspired by her world travels and grounded in her Kansas roots. She believes travel creates a cultural triangulation that fosters understanding of self and world. As a performer and songwriter Marianne strives to translate daily personal experiences into universal cultural connections. Through appointments, awards and research grants, Marianne has had the opportunity to teach music in Australia, study the rich musical traditions of Brittany, the Celtic region of France, and perform and record with world-class musicians in the West African country of Mali. Her latest travels have taken her to northern Montana, Utah, and central Mexico. As a teaching artist, she presents songwriting, Celtic, old-time, and world music performances and workshops and she teaches guitar, voice, and violin at "Prairie Music", her studio in Lawrence, KS.
